A Weekend at Heathcote Wine & Food 2023
Oct 17, 2023
The Heathcote Wine & Food Weekend, held on October 7th and 8th, brought together the finest offerings from the renowned wine-producing region of Heathcote, Victoria. This two-day extravaganza served as a testament to the region's rich culinary and viticultural heritage, featuring an array of local suppliers and artisans. Among the standout vendors were Pud For All Seasons, creators of delectable Christmas puddings, sauces, and desserts. Cuvee Chocolate, led by the skilled pastry chef Dennis, also left a lasting impression.
Wine aficionados were in for a treat with Red Edge Wine, whose Estate Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon proved to be crowd-pleasers. The festival offered an interesting juxtaposition, with Saturday characterised by a bustling energy as attendees eagerly explored the offerings, and Sunday providing a leisurely ambiance, allowing for a more relaxed and comprehensive exploration of the various suppliers.
A particular highlight of the weekend was the delightful cheese tasting experience offered by Long Paddock Cheese from Castlemaine. Their offerings, including the Banksia cheese and the Silver Wattle soft cheese, received well-deserved acclaim, prompting many to take home a slice of these exquisite dairy treasures.
As the sun set on Saturday, the festivities continued for our team with a hearty pub meal at Palling Bros Brewery, where the universally-beloved parma and chips were savored. The night for us was spent at the charming Shiraz Republic winery, where a cozy two-bedroom unit offered breathtaking views of the vineyards, creating a serene and picturesque end to the day.
The Heathcote Wine & Food Weekend was a testament to the region's commitment to celebrating and preserving its rich traditions in wine and culinary craftsmanship. With an array of delectable offerings, exceptional wines, and enchanting accommodation, it was a celebration of the senses and a testament to the enduring allure of Heathcote, Victoria. As the curtains drew on this event, one couldn't help but look forward to the promise of another gathering next year.
